Transfer to the Ravenna cruise terminal
The Porto Corsini cruise terminal is an hour and a half from Bologna airport, and on embarkation day the clock is not a matter of opinion: you board by the time printed on the ticket, not a minute later.
Embarkation day
People sailing from Ravenna almost always land in Bologna the same morning. That is when every risk of the day piles up: a late flight, luggage slow onto the belt, a terminal that closes check-in at a fixed hour.
How we handle it:
- We track the flight. Waiting starts from the actual landing, with the first 60 minutes included: time for passport control and the baggage belt.
- We work backwards. Tell us the boarding cut-off printed on your ticket: we start from there and tell you by what time you need to land for the plan to hold.
- We set you down at the right gate. The port has separate accesses for passengers and freight, and on sailing days the traffic layout around the terminal changes.
If the flight builds up enough delay to put boarding in doubt, we tell you while you are still in the air, not once you are in the car: sometimes there is a margin to claw back, sometimes it is better to call the cruise line. Either way it is better to know early.
Disembarkation: everyone gets off early, together
Coming back is the opposite. Operations start very early, often before seven, and within an hour a few thousand people come ashore at once. The vehicles available on the spot are few, and the ones there leave immediately.
That is why the return is booked together with the outbound leg. The driver is at the terminal at the agreed time, with a sign, and the waiting allowance covers the normal disembarkation queue. If you have an afternoon flight from Bologna, tell us that too: we calculate the pick-up time from the flight, not from the hour you wake up.
From the airport, the station or your hotel
The most frequent case is Marconi airport to Porto Corsini, but the route costs the same starting from the central station or from a city address: on long routes the three points of Bologna count as one another.
Many passengers arrive the day before and sleep in Bologna or Ravenna. In that case we can run two separate legs — airport to hotel in the evening, hotel to terminal in the morning — or keep the car at your disposal if there is sightseeing in between. Ravenna, with its mosaics, is worth half a day.
Luggage, groups and families
Cruise passengers travel with more luggage than anyone else: large cases, often one each plus hand luggage. The sum to do is not about seats, it is about boot space.
A sedan takes up to three passengers with moderate luggage; a van up to seven people, but seven large cases plus seven cabin bags is another matter. Write to us with how many people and how many cases: we will tell you whether you need a larger vehicle or a second one, and we tell you beforehand, not outside the terminal. Real capacities are on the minibus and groups page.
What it costs
A fixed fare per car, agreed before departure, covering fuel, tolls, parking and VAT.
| Route | Sedan | Van |
|---|---|---|
| Porto Corsini (Ravenna) | 220–255 € | 250–290 € |
| Cervia | 220–255 € | 250–290 € |
| Comacchio | 200–230 € | 230–265 € |
Indicative estimates per vehicle, not per person. Fuel, tolls, parking and VAT are included. The final figure is confirmed in writing before departure.
For cruises sailing from Venice the terminal is different and so is the route: that is covered on the Bologna–Venice page. The full list of routes is on the rates page.
Questions
About cruises
How long is Bologna airport to Porto Corsini?
About an hour and a half in normal traffic. On sailing days, with the traffic around the terminal, allow an extra margin: we build it into the time we propose.
If my flight is late, do I miss the ship?
We track the flight and start from the actual landing. If the delay puts boarding at risk we tell you before you land, so you have time to decide.
Should I book the return as well?
Strongly recommended. At disembarkation thousands of people come ashore within the same hour and the vehicles available on site run out immediately.
There are six of us with six large cases — what vehicle do we need?
Write to us with the exact number of people and cases. A van takes seven people but not seven large cases: often a bigger vehicle or a second one is the answer, and we say so in the quotation.
Can you show us Ravenna before boarding?
Yes, with the car at your disposal for half a day. The mosaics are in the historic centre and the terminal is twenty minutes away: it fits comfortably.
Tell us the flight, the ship and the boarding time.
We reply with the fixed price and a pick-up time calculated backwards from boarding.
